Syria

Travel with the Council to discover rarely toured Syria, an ancient gem bordered by Lebanon to the west, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest.  Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world and is a living museum spanning thousands of years.  We will also visit the port city Lattakia, Aleppo, and Palmyra, with an optional excursion to Beirut.

North Korea
August 12-21, 2010

Our trip will officially begin in Pyongyang, the capitol of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Arriving from Beijing, we can rest at the hotel and still attend a circus performance in the evening.  North Korea is an unusual destination, but not as remote or difficult as it is perceived.  Entering the country legally, we will be safe and welcomed. The people are formal, but also kind and interested in Americans.
